There are a multitude of schools in the Town of Markham. There are two main school boards who manage Markham schools. Either the York Region District School Board or the York Catholic District School Board.
If you are considering sending your child to a specific school, do review the handy school boundary maps provided by the School Board. Indeed, Markham is home to some of top schools in Toronto. Browse through the Education Quality and Assessment Office (EQAO) website and see how individual schools rank. There are also a number of Montessori schools and other private schools in the area.
If you have children of high-school age, think ahead when buying your home to make sure your home is close to a public bus route since high-school kids will need to bus themselves to school. There are only a few high schools. The main high schools are:
- Unionville High at Highway 7 & Warden
- Pierre Elliott Trudeau High at Bur Oak & Kennedy
- Markville High at Raymerville & McCowan
- Markham District at Church & Main St. Markham
- Milliken Mills High at Kennedy & Denison.
- St Augustine High at Woodbine & 16th Avenue (Catholic)
- Brother Andre High at 16th & Markham Rd (Catholic)
